Self-Reflection

This marble statue represents the necessary discomfort of self-reflection. Modeled after my own nose wrinkled up in frustration, I made this piece when I was dealing with the repercussions of coming out as trans. It was very meditative to spend all those hours carving at the hard stone, and it felt like revealing myself beneath the rough surface. I left the chisel marks mostly visible to remember each strike it took to come to the finished product.
